Laurel Home Buyers (“Laurel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) buys residential property in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area and southwest Washington. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit a form, call us, or text us, we collect your name, phone number, email address, the property address, and anything you choose to tell us about the property or your situation.

Information we collect automatically. When you visit the site we collect your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the pages you view, how long you stay, the site or ad that referred you, and general location derived from your IP address. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies.

Information from public records. Once you give us a property address, we look at publicly available records including county assessor data, permit history, recorded liens, and recent comparable sales. This is public information and we would look at it whether or not you contacted us.

Consent records. When you check a consent box on our forms, we record the date and time, your IP address, the exact consent language displayed to you, and which boxes you checked. We keep this record to demonstrate that consent was given.

How we use your information

  • To evaluate your property and prepare an offer
  • To contact you about your inquiry by phone, text, or email
  • To send you marketing messages, but only if you separately opted in
  • To complete a transaction if you accept an offer
  • To improve the site and understand how people find us
  • To measure the performance of our advertising
  • To comply with legal obligations

Text messages

When you submit your information, we may contact you by phone, text message, or email about the property and your request for an offer. Message and data rates may apply.

If you separately opt in to marketing messages, we may also send promotional text messages, which may be sent using automated technology. Consent to marketing messages is not required to sell your home or to receive an offer, and we will never make it a condition of any sale.

Message frequency varies. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by emailing us, calling us, or telling us in any other reasonable way. We will honor your request promptly and in any event within ten business days. Reply HELP to any message for assistance.

We do not share your phone number or your SMS consent with any third party for their own marketing purposes. No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and understand which advertising works.

Essential cookies keep the site functioning. These cannot be turned off.

Analytics cookies tell us how people use the site. We use Google Analytics, which collects information about your visit and may set its own cookies.

Advertising cookies and pixels let us measure ad performance and show relevant ads to people who have visited the site. We may use Google Ads conversion tracking, the Google remarketing tag, and the Meta pixel. These tools may collect your IP address, device information, and information about your activity on this site.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only in these situations:

Service providers. Companies that help us operate, including our website host, customer relationship management software, messaging and email providers, analytics providers, and advertising platforms. They may only use your information to provide services to us.

Transaction parties. If you accept an offer, we share what is necessary with the title or escrow company, and with any attorney involved.

Assignment of a contract. We may assign a purchase contract to another buyer. In that case we share only what is necessary to complete the transaction. We tell you in writing before you sign if we intend to assign.

Legal requirements. If required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

Business transfer. If Laurel is sold or merged, your information may transfer as part of that.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry and transaction information for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, and as long as required by law. We keep consent records for at least four years.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Ask what information we have about you
  • Ask us to correct it
  • Ask us to delete it
  • Opt out of marketing messages at any time
  • Opt out of marketing email by clicking unsubscribe
  • Ask us to stop contacting you entirely

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, including the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act. Some of those laws apply only to businesses above certain size thresholds, but we will honor the requests above regardless of whether we are legally required to.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, so we do not currently respond to those signals.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the last revision. Material changes will be posted here.
